Q1.What motivated you to join the company?

I wanted to learn structural design while maintaining a good work-life balance. At Commonwealth Engineers, work hours are from 9 AM to 5 PM, with weekends and holidays off, so I can also allocate time for studying qualifications.

Q2.Could you briefly describe your career path after joining?

1st year: Focused mainly on learning how to draft and conduct compliance checks.
2nd year: Applied what I learned in the first year to work on design management at project sites.
3rd year: Started leading my own team, gaining more experience in management.

In around five years, I plan to be stationed in the U.S. Alongside my work studies, I hope to continue learning English and growing. By the eighth year, I aim to be entrusted with managing a major project independently.

Q4.What do you think are the strengths and attractions of Commonwealth Engineers?

The company is open to new ideas, with supervisors who encourage us to take on new challenges. It's a place where you can develop by challenging yourself.

Q5.How would you describe the company atmosphere?

With a younger workforce, there's a refreshing lack of the traditional hierarchical environment, making communication easy. It feels barrier-free. Additionally, there are many foreign nationals, so both Japanese and English are commonly spoken. It's refreshing to be in an environment where English is used naturally, allowing me to learn it gradually through conversation.

Although I studied architectural design in college, I had no knowledge of structural calculations. Through my work here, I've gained experience in structural calculations and have had many opportunities to actively apply what I've learned, which has contributed to my growth.

This is a perfect company for those who want to actively communicate and are eager to learn various things. While there are times when overtime is required, we’re encouraged to leave on time and can easily take paid leave, so a work-life balance is achievable.
