Meet Kōnosuke Ishikawa, one of our passionate engineers, and discover his journey with us.
◾️ First Year at Work – Continuous Learning and Steady Growth
Mr. Ishikawa joined the company in April 2024. He is currently engaged in a wide range of tasks, including drafting, structural calculation reports, material selection, and cost estimation.
“I start my day at 9 a.m. by checking emails. Then, I mainly work on structural calculations. After a lunch break, I continue with design tasks and review deliverables around 4 p.m. I usually wrap up my day by writing a report before 5 p.m.”
He is especially focused on structural calculations.
“Since the formulas change depending on the conditions, I sometimes struggle with which one to use. When that happens, I try researching on my own first. If I still don’t get it after 15 minutes, I ask my supervisor or senior colleagues.”
◾️Moments of Growth and a Supportive Workplace
“When I’m finally able to complete a calculation I couldn’t do before, I really feel that I’m growing. Those are the most rewarding moments.”
He appreciates the supportive environment around him.
“A senior colleague who sits nearby always answers my questions kindly. Even when busy, they make time to help if I wait a little.”
With many international employees, English communication is also part of daily work.
“At first I was overwhelmed, but gradually, I’ve become able to communicate in English for work, even if just on a word-by-word basis. I’m still struggling, but I hope to improve.”
◾️Career Outlook and Future Challenges
While performing his daily tasks, Mr. Ishikawa is steadily planning his career path.
“In my first year, I want to build a foundation through training and hands-on work. By my third year, I hope to manage projects, and by the fifth year, be in a position to delegate tasks to junior colleagues.”
He also shows flexibility in his career thinking.
“Once I’m comfortable with the job, I plan to pursue certifications. If gaining experience at another company would help me grow, I’m open to that as well.”
◾️A Workplace that Balances Focus and Flexibility
“The word that best describes this workplace is ‘balance.’ Everyone focuses during work, but break time is relaxing.”
Regarding work-life balance, he adds:
“I try to leave early when I can, and the company is flexible about letting us finish on time when needed. The 7-hour workday is also appealing.”
He has already acquired a solid understanding of structural calculations through both training and day-to-day work.
“Almost everything I’ve learned since joining connects directly to my work.”
◾️Message to Applicants
“This is a great place for people who are good with numbers or English. It’s important to actively ask questions.”
“If you enjoy calculating and designing, or have architectural knowledge and are interested in working abroad, this place is a great fit.”
“If you work on your listening skills beforehand, you’ll be able to adjust more smoothly.”
◾️A Comment from Mr. Ishikawa
“There was a lot to learn at first, but with support from senior colleagues, I gradually got used to things.
Also, company get-togethers with my boss give me a chance to discuss things I wouldn’t normally say. The casual atmosphere makes it easy to talk—that’s one of the great things about this workplace.”
